The Baptism of Jesus’ (Luke 3:21-22) was not a baptism of repentance but an invitation into Jesus’ public ministry. Jesus’ baptism was a time for God the Father to announce approval for His son. Jesus’ baptism was an act of obedience to God the Father by Jesus himself. By Jesus being submersed in the water, He cleansed the water for those who would would be baptized after Him. Jesus’ baptism affirms Jesus as the Messiah. It revealed the humility of Jesus and provided an example for others. His baptism displayed a beautiful picture of the triune God.
