This morning we celebrate Pentecost which is considered to be the birthday of the church. We recall how lost and uncertain the disciples felt after Jesus’ ascension into heaven. At Pentecost the disciples were given the gift of the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide them. The Holy Spirit continues to work in our lives bringing clarity, guiding our choices and instilling a sense of right and wrong. We also observe Memorial Day and honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom. May we recognize the blessings that we enjoy as a result of their sacrifice and live in a worthy manner.
